In John 8:32 the Bible states that you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. The great commission is not a career, it is a calling. The great commission is about the Kingdom of God (Rom.14:17).
Our Lord Jesus came to establish the Kingdom of God and not his personal ministry. He did not use his personal ministry to materially enrich himself, but God empowered him both spiritually and materially to be a blessing to the flock. As a good Pastor, he came to lead his flock into prosperity and not the opposite.
The prophet Elijah would have loved to stick around after the widow prospered, but he left. God raises prophets to profit the nations and not themselves. Paul warned Timothy regarding the love of money (1Tim.6:10).
God has the ability to prosper his servants, like in the case of Elijah who was fed by a raven. Material cravings and accumulation of wealth are the traits of pagans (James 5:1-6).
