The Will of God – Part 1

The will of God is what is referred to as the will of the Father. It is an essential part of any believer’s life. There is no way any Christian can defeat the forces of evil without doing and being in the will of God the Father. Jesus overcame because he chose to do the will of the Father. You can only overcome evil by doing the will of the Father as Jesus did.

Please note that it was possible that Jesus could have done his own will when he faced death. When he communed with the Father on the issue of redemption he tried to see if there were other options. The most dreaded thing he faced was that separation he would go through by dying. Death, depending on what kind separates either man from man or man from God too. When a man is living in sin, he is then separated from God. Since God the Father allowed Jesus to bear the sin of the world he then became separated from God. There was no option but the cross and the cross was the will of God. In Matthew 26:39 the Bible talks about Jesus and says, “Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will”.

Jesus had his will and God the Father had his will just like you and I have a will of our own. The will of God is what matters. The will of man gives birth to human nature but the will of God gives birth to Divine nature. In John 3:6 Jesus says, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit”. The Bible talks about the will of the flesh, of man and of God. See what the Bible says about being born in John 1:13. In reference to the new birth in Christ it says, “Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God”. When you are born again, you are born by God’s will and you become a partaker of his Divine nature. The seed of God comes into your being. This is possible by the will of God. The rules of nature have no control over this kind of birth. It only happens when you surrender your will to God. The will of God the Father is what matters.

Are you ready to surrender your will to God? Ask Jesus to come into your heart. Ask him to forgive your sins because sin separates you from God. Anyone who has Jesus has life and has crossed from death to life already as long as he is in Christ. Go ahead and do the will of God the Father and you will never regret it.
