The most important lesson in life is a lesson about the word of God. When the people of Israel were delivered from the house of bondage in Egypt, they went through the wilderness so that they could learn about the importance of the word that comes out of the mouth of God.
In Deuteronomy 8:3 in reference to Israel the Bible says, “And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live” (KJV). This was the best knowledge anyone can acquire. The whole nation of Israel needed it and now every one of us still needs it.
Life itself depends on what comes from the mouth of God. That word is what sustains and gives life to people. It is necessary for you to depend on it. God has made it possible for us to depend on it so that we can receive what God has promised.
Now, the word of God is important because it offers more than what natural food can offer. It sustains guides, protects, prospers, heals, and provides hope and so forth. The word of God is everything to man in time of need and that is why it should take preeminence in everyone’s life. It is the true bread from heaven that sustains life for all eternity. Jesus Christ is that eternal bread of life. Israel ate manna in the wilderness, but was not sustained for eternity. Jesus Christ is that very Word that was with God from the beginning and he is the one who sustain life forever.
The best you and I can do now is to receive that word, allow it to work in our lives and then proclaim it. When we do this we will all be blessed beyond measure.
