The Will of God

Only Jesus Christ could face the cross for the world. He is the only one who was able to do the will of God so that we can have the opportunity to do his will too. The will of God is what Jesus Christ referred to as the will of the Father. It is an essential part of any believer’s life. There is no way any Christian can defeat the forces of evil without doing and being in the will of God. Jesus overcame because he chose to do the will of the Father. You can only overcome evil by doing the will of God as Jesus did.

Please note that it was possible that Jesus could have done his own will when he faced death. Jesus chose to do the will of God the Father. When he communed with the Father on the issue of redemption he tried to see if there were other options. The most dreaded thing he faced was that separation he would go through by dying. Death, depending on what kind it is, separates either man from man or man from God. He found the separation from God to be hard to face.

A man living in sin is separated from God. When God the Father allowed Jesus to bear the sin of the world, he became separated from God. There was no option because the cross was the will of God. In Matthew 26:39 the Bible talks about Jesus and says, “Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will”(KJV). Jesus did the will of God. He surrendered his will to God the Father and it is through the same will of God where we find Salvation.
