A healthy church is a model of what church is supposed to be as a body of believers. This model is what God has set forth as an example for every group of believers to follow. Anything apart from what God has set up is not acceptable. This is the reason why many years ago Moses was told to make a tabernacle according to the pattern that was shown to him.
A church planter must then do his work according to what God has revealed to him. A church planter must aim at having a church that becomes a powerful witness for Jesus Christ in the community. In Romans chapter one and verse sixteen the Bible tells us that the gospel is the power of God that leads to salvation. Faith should then stand in the power of God and that is how believers become strong in the Lord. In 1 Corinthians 2:5 the Bible says, “That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God” (KJV). The faith of new believers should stand in the power of God so that the church can maintain growth and stability. However, strong individual Christians are the ones who create a stable and sound church.
A church planter must therefore know and be able utilize the best practices that build a health and successful church. A health and successful church meets the needs of the people it targets. A church planter should therefore aims at doing church activities the way Jesus did it. What Jesus did in the Temple at Jerusalem after removing the money changers and those who were selling doves is a good example of what he wants done. He wants us to meet the needs of those who are in need. God really wants us to win souls.
