The Place of Worship

Building the place of worship should be done in the natural as it is in the spirit. What is happening in the spirit world? Every believer is a temple of the Holy Spirit. In Corinthian 3:16 the Bible says, “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” (KJV). This means that God dwells within every believer. When believers come together the same Spirit is still within them. The body of Christ is the dwelling place for his Spirit. This is the reason why church planting is really building the Lord’s dwelling place.

How is it done? The church should to be built with the understanding that it is supposed to accomplish things according to what God reveals. Just like the Altar of God was built using specific instructions, church planting is done using Biblical principles. This is where God takes first place and human skill or ability takes second place. That is why Moses was told to build the house of God according to the pattern that was revealed to him.

In church planting we focus on building a spiritual house. It is still God who is building his own dwelling place. Solomon built the Temple that was magnificent and it took many years to complete. He used precise measurements and some parts of the building carried meaning. He included two pillars at the entrance of the Temple. In 1 Kings 7:21 the Bible says, “And he set up the pillars in the porch of the temple: and he set up the right pillar, and called the name thereof Jachin: and he set up the left pillar, and called the name thereof Boaz” (KJV). The pillar called Jachin was in the South and the pillar called Boaz was positioned in the North. Now, Jachin means “God establishes” and Boaz means “By God’s strength” in Hebrew. The establishment of your new church must be done with the strength that God supplies. It is his strength and not our human strength that establishes his work.
