God’s time is always the right time. When Jesus began his ministry religious people attempted to kill him. In Luke 4:28-29 the Bible says, “And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong” (KJV). These people went to the place of worship every Sabbath and worshipped God, but here they were trying to kill someone who just told them truth.
It is true that the plan of God was that Jesus Christ would have to die, but being thrown headlong was not the right way. Luke 4: 30 says, “But he passing through the midst of them went his way” (KJV). Whatever attempts were made on Jesus Christ at the beginning of his ministry never prevailed. Only the plan of God prevailed. God did not want Jesus to die a premature death. When Jesus finally died, he did it at the right time for all of us because without his death and resurrection we would be lost for eternity.
Now, during the time Jesus was about to be crucified, Pontus Pilate thought he could declare himself innocent. Pilate washed his hand in water and declared himself innocent. That is not how it works. In Matthew 27:24 the Bible says, “When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it” (KJV). Pilate thought water did make him clean, but it did not. Natural water does not wash our sins away. It is only the blood of Jesus that can cleanse us from all sin and only God can declare us innocent. Pontus Pilate was wrong because self-justification has no place in true salvation. Salvation is the work of God.
When Jesus came before Pontus Pilate, it was the right time for him to die for the world. If it was not the right time, he could have asked the Father for legions of angels to protect him. He would have walked in their midst just like he did at the beginning of his ministry. He did it with an angry religious mob and that is how he could have walked out and gone his way. When Jesus stood before Pilate he did not walk away because he knew it was the Father’s plan. It was now the right time for him to die for all of us.
Now, Jesus has paid the price for us by dying on the cross. This is the right time for people to give their lives to God. This is the right time to give ones heart to Jesus Christ. In 2 Corinthians 6:2 the Bible declares, “For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (KJV). This is a special time for us. We can now give our hearts to Jesus and have our sins forgiven by God.
If you have never given your life to Jesus Christ now is the right time. It is God’s right time to save anyone who calls on the name of Jesus Christ. If you are not sure you are saved, just call on Jesus now. Now is God’s time and it is the right time to receive his forgiveness.
