The Call to the River of God

John the Baptist was calling people to the River Jordan so that they would be baptized. This baptism is the baptism of repentance which is a call for people to turn away from sin. The call to repentance is key in what God wants to accomplish through people.

No one can receive true forgiveness from God without responding to the call to repentance. John the Baptist told the people he was baptizing in water, but there was someone who was coming after him and that is the one who was going to baptize people into the Holy Spirit. This implies that repentance is really a preparation for everything Jesus provides.

People need to turn away from sin before they can receive the Holy Spirit. The flame of the Holy Spirit can and will only burn in those who turn away from sin. This is the reason why John the Baptist was pointing the people to The Lord Jesus Christ because to get to Christ repentance was and is still a requirement. No one can receive the baptism in to the Holy Spirit without being saved first.

Excerpt from the book “The River Jordan”.

Are you saved? Are you washed in the soul cleansing blood of Christ? If you are saved then rejoice because your redemption is getting closer.

If not, then give your heart to Jesus. Pray this simple prayer.

Say, Lord Jesus am a sinner and I need your forgiveness. Please forgive me right now, I ask for your forgiveness in the name of Jesus. Give me the power to become a child of God.  Lord, write my name in the lambs book of life. Thank you for taking away my sins. I am now born of your Spirit in the name of Jesus Christ.  I am now a child of God, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
