When the word of God says that you are a chosen generation it means you are a special people of faith like the eight souls he saved during Noah’s flood. In Christ you are chosen by God just like Israel was chosen. During Noah’s flood the rain fell for forty days and Jesus also fasted for forty days. This is how water baptism is really known to be from God. Eight souls in the Ark crossed over to the new world. It was a new beginning and in Christ we also crossover to a new beginning.
After Jesus came out from the wilderness, he began his ministry and in the process chose twelve disciples he called apostles. Those twelve were not anywhere near perfection, but he chose them. He knew what would later come out of them. In John 6:70 the Bible says, “Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil” (KJV). The fact is that Jesus chose the twelve apostles and nothing ever took him by surprise. The God of Abraham chose Israel, but the whole nation had to learn the importance of obedience to the word of God.
People without the knowledge of the word of God perish. In Hosea 4:6 the Bible says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children” (KJV). It is not a surprise after reading this Scripture that it becomes easy to notice that people who did not obey the word of God during the forty years in the wilderness died. Sin itself leads to a lot of suffering or even death.
Rejecting God’s word means death and accepting it is life everlasting. This is why it matters that we should take God at his word so seriously. We should feed on it so as to make it in our spiritual journey. The word of God is what brings faith to us and through faith we make it in this wilderness of life.
Excerpt from “The River Jordan”.
Moses and Aaron and the rest died in the wilderness. Moses saw the promised land from the top of the mountain, but could not enter in himself. In all this, those who obeyed the word of God crossed the river Jordan into the promised land. Obedience is key and you can only obey if you love Jesus Christ.
Beloved, walk in obedience to God’s Word and you will see the good of the land. All you need is to take God at his Word. His Word is truth. It has stood the test of time.
