The Promise of the Father

God made a covenant with Abram and that led to the promise of giving him and his children land to occupy. In Genesis 15:12 -13 the Bible says, “And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him. And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years” (KJV). This was something that most people could have forgotten about, but the Hebrew people never forgot about it.

Moses wrote about it after it was talked about for generations. This was a promise of God, but later the promise became more than just a piece of land. The promise was really for the Holy Spirit from above.

Jesus talked about the promise of God the father with a special emphasis. This promise is more than what this world can offer or take away. The Lord blesses and adds no sorrow to his blessings. That is his plan for the human race. He wants us to know how to effectively defeat our enemy and that gives him pleasure.

The promise of God is not just a piece of land. It is the Spirit of God and he is the most precious gift in the whole wide world. The promise is not limited to a piece of land. It is not about things that are temporary. It is about the eternal blessings of God. The Holy Spirit means life forever, and when you have the Spirit of God you live forever. The blessing is not for a season because it is really for eternity.
