The Last Word

When Jesus Christ was hanging on the cross, one of the two thieves who hang on his side reviled him. However, the thief who had a glimpse into who Jesus Christ is, rebuked the other for the remarks. Now, this is someone who understood that Jesus did not deserve to be punished. He knew Jesus was blameless.

The punishment that Jesus took on the cross was not for himself. In Luke 23: 41 one of those two thieves said,”And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss” (‭KJV). This man accepted the fact that he deserved to be punished for whatever he stole, but he also knew from deep down his heart that Jesus was able to change his situation. Only Jesus can change anyone’s life situation and his last word can change your eternal destiny.

This man was in his last moments and very much condemned to death, but he had to make his last request to Jesus. This is something that will also unveil a lot of surprises for a lot of us on the day when Christ will return. Surely, that day will be full of surprises. The thief at the cross was condemned and those who knew him concluded that he was not going to Paradise after all. However, Jesus let him enter Paradise that very day. In Luke 23: 43 the Bible says, “And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise” (‭KJV). If Jesus made a way for this man, he can make a way for anyone. Jesus can forgive the darkest sin and has the authority to let anyone go to Paradise. Jesus said, “To day shalt thou be with me in paradise”. These last words from Jesus can change your eternal destiny too.

There may be times when you have heard this statement, “He is gone to be with The Lord”. This happens after the demise of a good or religious man. We all assume that since someone attends church it means he is gone to Heaven after he has past away. This is not always the case because if that person is not forgiven by Jesus, it means he has no place in Paradise.

There are a lot of people who are like that thief with Jesus at the cross. They get saved in the their very last minute of life and no one takes that into account. What Jesus says in the last hour is what matters. Jesus can take people into his arms right on their last hour of life and usher them into his everlasting joy while the rest of us keep thinking they are lost for ever. Jesus has dealt a death blow to the power of sin and anyone who calls on him now, gets saved. It is wise to call on Jesus now when it is called today. Let him speak the last words to change your destiny.

What do you want Jesus to say about your life? Are you going to let him speak the lasts word? You can make your request to him and your life and destiny can change. The thief made his request and was ushered into Paradise. Why not you?
