The Gateway to a Double Blessing

Jesus did not come to destroy peoples lives. He came to give us eternal life. We were dead in sin and trespasses, but he came to give us eternal life. In Luke 9:56 the Bible declares, ”For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them…” (‭KJV). God wants people to experience true freedom by being saved from sin.

All of us who believe in Jesus Christ must understand that we have been given the Spirit who gives life. Any one who wishes for people to be saved will value people’s lives. He will care so much about people that he will do whatever it takes to help them. Job cared about those who watched and advised him as he went through all his trials. In his circumstances he made up his mind not to be bitter against them.

The freedom that Job himself needed was really tied to the people around him. As soon as he forgave them that is when he receive his freedom. In Job 42:10 the Bible says, “And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before” (KJV). Prayers for those who are against you are a gateway to your freedom. In Romans 12:19 the Bible says,”Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord” (KJV). God does a good job at punishing unrighteousness therefore it is better to let him take over your circumstances.

When Stephen was being stoned to death he prayed for those who were stoning him. In Acts 7: 59-60 the Bible says, “And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep” (KJV). Stephen understood that God’s plan is not to destroy people’s lives. That is why he prayed this last prayer,”Lord, lay not this sin to their charge”. Stephen knew for sure that this was his last moments in life, but he stayed in line with the desire of the Spirit of God and that is, not to destroy men. Instead of reacting Stephen prayed for the people.

There is a prayer that releases the blessings of God and that kind of prayer is rooted in forgiveness. Jesus is our example concerning this kind of prayer. While hanging on the cross he prayed asking God the Father to forgive the people because they did not know what they were doing. Stephen and Job also prayed prayers that opened the way for God’s blessings to be poured upon the people. We all need to pray for people as believers in Christ.

In your circumstances, let go of the past to release the blessings of eternal life for people. You might be their last hope therefore stand in the gap. This is your gateway to a double blessing because the people will be blessed and you will also be blessed. Praying for others is a blessing in disguise to you too. Pray!
