The right Mind

The mind is one important avenue for improving man’s quality of life. When man is not in the right mind, he ends up doing things that can be very destructive to himself and others. That is why it is imperative that God’s people should function in the right mind.

In Mark chapter five we are told about how Jesus met a man who was not in his right mind. If someone is not in his right mind, he becomes uncontrollable. This man could not control himself and other people could not control him too. He was not in his right mind because he was possessed by a legion of demons. People had given up on him after they tried restraining him with chains, but when Jesus met him, he simply cast out those demons and the man became completely free.

When the man was set free, that legion of demons went into a head of swine which also lost control, ran into the lake and drowned. The men who witnessed what happened went and told others about it and then went back to try to meet Jesus. In Mark 5:15 the Bible says, “And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid” (‭KJV). This event scared the men who witnessed what happened when they realized that the man who was under such a huge destructive power of demons was now in his right mind.

When a person’s mind is not sound, he can act in ways that are questionable and destructive. He can pose as a danger to himself and other people which leads to a lot of suffering. The answer to this kind of a situation is found in Jesus. Jesus is the one who made it possible for that man to come into his right mind and he is the one who can help anyone looking for help.

In order to improve the quality of people’s lives, the mind needs to be healthy. In 2 Timothy 1:7 the Bible says, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (‭KJV). This is what Jesus really did for that man, he gave him a sound mind. In 1 Corinthians 2:16 the Bible says, “For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ” (‭KJV). The mind of Christ is the best of all minds and that is what God has given to his people. The mind of Christ is the right mind because it is well balanced and not biased.
