When the people of Israel were in the land of Egypt as slaves, they cried out to God and he delivered them. In Exodus 3:7 the Bible says, “And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows” (KJV). God not only heard their cry; he knew their sorrows. In this situation God took note of their afflictions and come up with a mighty plan of deliverance.
In Psalms 34:19 the Bible says, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all” (KJV). Being a Christian does not mean you do not have to go through difficulties. Afflictions will always be there, but God will deliver you from every one of them. He always delivers his people and he will deliver you whenever you face affliction. The first thing we all need to remember in affliction is that God always delivers people as long as they are in a covenant relationship with him. Yes, God delivers his people from all the afflictions and not just from some of them.
Now, we also have to remember that his presence is important for our deliverance. In Jeremiah 1:19 the word of God that came to Jeremiah the Prophet says, “And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the Lord, to deliver thee” (KJV). This Word is still packed with a great promise for deliverance. God will deliver you like he promised Jeremiah. He is the same God who never changes and he knows exactly what you are going through. He says that he is with you to deliver you.
At the Red Sea, the Egyptians could not prevail against the people of God. This was due to the fact that God was fighting for his people. In Exodus 14:24-25 the Bible says, “And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the Lord looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians, And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the Lord fighteth for them against the Egyptians” (KJV). At the end of what happened, God delivered the nation of Israel and Phoraoh’s army got swallowed up by the Red Sea. Those who afflict you will be punished. God is faithfull and he will surely keep his promise to deliver you.
