The Believers Authority

The believer’s authority in Christ can be used against unclean spirits. Unclean spirits are very destructive and they are ruining a lot of lives today. Jesus cast them out in order to stop them from destroying people’s lives.

The account in Mark chapter five reveals some of the destructive things that an unclean spirit can do. In this chapter we are told that when Jesus went into the country of Gadarenes, just after stepping out of the ship he met a man with an unclean spirit. This man was basically out of control because of the unclean spirit within him. Unclean spirits can cause people to loose their ability for self care and this man definitely had lost that control.

In Mark 5:3-4 the Bible refers to the man who had that unclean spirit and says, “…and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him” (‭KJV). This Scripture is revealing that there are forces in this world with the intent to destroy people by causing them to act in destructive ways.

Now, why do some people cut themselves? Is there something that compels them to act that way? The answer to these questions can be explained by the word of God. In Mark 5: 5 the Bibles talks about that man with the unclean spirit and says, “And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones” (‭KJV). This man used stones to cut himself, but behind that act was a force that was compelling him to cut himself. A force that compels anyone to cut himself with sharp objects such as stones or razor blades for no reason is basically caused by an unclean spirit. However, these unclean spirits can be cast out.

In order to cast out any unclean spirits, believers need to use the authority found in the name of Jesus. In Mark 16: 17 the Bible says, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils…”(‭KJV). As a believer you have the right to exercise your authority to set people free therefore use it in the name of Jesus. You hold the answer in your hands as a believer for so many issues that people are facing because you have authority over spirits that are influencing their circumstances.
