Faith and Action

Faith is tied to what we do. In James 2:26 the Bible says, “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also” (‭KJV). This means that there are people today who are walking around claiming to have faith when in actual fact their faith is dead.

How do we know faith is dead? We know faith is dead when there is no proof of supporting action. This is when there is no action to show proof of what one believes. The only proof for what we believe is action. This is a principle of life. People act according to what they believe. True faith is alive and this kind of faith has a lot of action or works tied to it.

The key to faith that is alive is obedience to the word of God. When Abraham was told to sacrifice his son Isaac he believed and began acting in accordance to what he heard from God. We all have to hear that word of faith first before we can act. In Romans 10:14 the Bible says, “…and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” (‭KJV). We could not have confidently been able to know that God heals people except by his word. God believes his own word and he wants us to believe it too. He knows it never return empty because it is effective at accomplishing its purpose. That is the same word of God we all have to believe in and that is what really does the impossible.

When a person is in good healthy and functioning well, he can believe or have confidence that he is able to run a mile. Now, when he really runs a mile, it means that what he believed has become action. The action part is what the Bible refered to as works when it talks about faith in the book of James chapter two. The faith of man produce natural actions of man, but the faith of God produce supernatural acts of God. If anyone wants to do the work of God, he must first believe God’s word because that is what produces the works of God.

When you believe that God heals people because the word of God says so, you can then expect God’s action to be healing for people. This is how people who believe in God’s word end up doing the work of God. The work of God is supernatural work and man in himself can not produce it. Man needs to have that faith of God.

When a righteous person is afflicted The Lord delivers him because the word of God says so. However, before anyone can see the supernatural healing or deliverance of God, he must must first believe God’s word. That word is what produces the supernatural works of God. Now, obedience to God is really a product of having faith in what God has spoken. Abraham believed God and when he was about to sacrifice his son Isaac, an angel from heaven stopped him and gave the best option. In this way, Abraham pleased God because he believed and acted according to what he believed. That kind of faith is alive and that is what God wants us to have in our lives.
