The People of God – Part 3

We must always be careful to ask the Lord to search our hearts so as to really turn away from our wicked ways. God searches the hearts of men. In Hebrews 4:12 the Bible says, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (‭KJV). God knows the intentions of our thoughts. He knows our ways and he is ready to forgive us if we play our part.

Those who consider themselves perfect run the danger of being lost like the son of perdition. Believers are the people of God because they belong to Jesus. They are called by his name because they have found salvation through the name that is above every name and that is the name of Jesus Christ. The people of God must turn away from their wicked ways. In Isaiah 59:1- 2 the Bible says, “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear” (KJV). God has promised to hear our prayer if we turn away from sin.

We do not have to be in Jerusalem at the Temple in order to to be heard. In 1 Corinthians the Bible says, “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” (‭KJV). Jesus has been the perfect sacrifice and now the Spirit of God dwells within us. God hears prayers that comes from our hearts. We express prayer in words, but it comes from the hearts. You are the temple of God.

When conditions were met God promises to hear prayers. Any one with pride is still living in sin. God does not listen to sinners. He listens to people who have turned away from their wicked ways. This is the reason why he has promised forgiveness. Healing comes after receiving forgiveness from God. In 2 Chronicles 7: 14 God says, “…then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (‭KJV). God will hear from heaven, forgive sins and heal people. He has promised and his promises are yes and amen.

In James 5:16 the Bible says, “…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (KJV). The prayer of a righteous man is effective and it is effective because God hears it and intervenes. The fact is that when conditions are met God hears prayer. We only need to receive God’s forgiveness and healing will manifest. God has made a promise to hear our prayers, forgive our sins and heal our land.
