When Elisha crossed the River Jordan after Elijah was take up to heaven in a chariot of fire, he was turned into another man. He was anointed and miracles began to happen in his ministry.
Elisha knew something about the river Jordan that very few people could have known in his time. During that very time, a man by the name of Naaman, a captain of the army in Syria who had leprosy heard about Elisha the prophet. This man Naaman had victories in many battles, but struggled to win one battle and that was a battle against leprosy. That was an impossible battle to win, but not with the God of Elisha.
Now, when this man Naaman needed healing from leprosy, Elisha the prophet knew where to send him. He knew he needed to go to the river of God. Elisha knew a lot about that river that is why he sent him there. On his way to the river Jordan, Naaman the captain fought his own internal battles. He was angry because he was told to go and dip himself in the river Jordan seven times.
Naaman came to Elisha the prophet with his own pre-conceptions just like we all have them. Naaman was angry when he was told to go and wash in the river Jordan. In 2 Kings 5:11 the Bible says, “But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the Lord his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper (KJV). This is how Naaman thought things should be done, but that was not the way God wanted things to be done. When he finally agreed and went along with the instructions Elisha the prophet gave him, that is when he was healed.
Now, Namaan’s way was not the way of righteousness. It was not the right way. God’s way was the way of righteousness because it is the right way. Through God’s way, Namaan was completely cured from leprosy. God who is righteous in all his ways healed Naaman. This then is surely a testament to how we get touched by the supernatural power of God in order to realize what God has in store for us. What God has in store is through the way of righteousness.
Jesus fulfilled righteousness at the river Jordan the day he was baptized by John the Baptist. The way of righteousness for all of us is through that death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. That experience is made possible when we put our faith in Jesus Christ. That is how we really win battles that seem too impossible to win because the power of God takes over so that the impossible can happen.
Let the impossible happen!
