The Test of Faith

Anyone who truly believes in Jesus Christ will definitely be tested. If you are a child of God you will soon or later have your own tests. Abraham was tested by God when he asked him to offer his son as a sacrifice. All he had to do was to walk in obedience. He obeyed God’s word and passed the test. Abraham knew that God had power to make his circumstances work out for good. The same God is well able to help you in your circumstances today.

Temptation is different from a test in the sense that its purpose is meant to try to make someone disobey God. However, tests tend to reveal the genuineness of someone’s faith instead. Abraham had faith, but how would anyone know that it was genuine? His faith could have only been known as truly being genuine after the test.

In James 2: 23 the Bible says, “And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God” (‭KJV). Every test in our lives has a good reason, but when we have faith like Abraham, we enter a friendship that brings us closer to God.

One day a woman came to Jesus partitioning for help and Jesus just kept ignoring her. The disciples began to advise Jesus to send her away because she was quiet bothersome. Well, Jesus kept on doing other things. This was irritating because the woman was constantly following them and Jesus was not doing anything about it. The disciples did not know that this was her test.

Now, how far would she really go to have God meet her needs? When Jesus told her that what she was asking for was meant for other people not her, she responded with remarkable confidence. In Matthew 15:27 the Bible says, “And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table” (‭KJV). This woman was determined to get what she came for and Jesus finally gave it to her after she passed her test. In Matthew 15:28 the Bible says, “Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour” (‭KJV). Some things never happen until the test is over.
