The Spirit of Prophecy

One day Jacob gathered all his children to reveal what was going to happen to them later in life. In Genesis 49:1 the Bible says, “And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days” (KJV). On that day, Jacob gathered his children and spoke to them by the spirit of prophecy.

Let us look at one of the things Jacob said. In Genesis 49:27 Jacob says, “Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil” (KJV). Due to this prediction the tribe of Benjamin reflected the characteristics rooted in acts of plunder. This kind of plunder is liked to that of a wolf and somehow Benjamin later became a war like tribe.

King Saul, the first King of Israel, Ehud the second of the Judges and Paul the apostle were all from the tribe of Benjamin. This could be the reason why Saul (Paul) persecuted the church at first, but then later was able to share divine revelation after he met Christ. Now, for Benjamin this was a prediction in line with the testimony of Christ. In John 20:21 Jesus says “…Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you” (KJV). As a child of God, you have now been sent by Jesus Christ. ‬‬You have the testimony of Jesus.

In Revelation 19:10 John met someone who also had the testimony of Jesus and says, “And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” (KJV). As a child of God, the testimony you have about Jesus Christ is the spirit of prophecy. When you share what Jesus has done, you help to change the eternal destiny of those who hear and believe.

Do you have the testimony of Christ?
