Prophecy is meant to impact our lives in a way that would help us experience the goodness of the Lord. It is not just “knowledge” predicting what would happen in the future. Prophecy is also a revelation of wisdom for what needs to be done to stay safe from spiritual danger. As believers, prophecy prepares and enables us to become overcomers.
People who know what to do in times of difficulties are wise. It is good to know that gasoline makes cars have the ability to move, but it is better to be wise enough to use it in cars. Now, the ability to use knowledge is wisdom. In Proverbs 4:7 the Bible says, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom…” (KJV). We all need to get wisdom.
The Bible gives us an example of a people who were known for being wise. These people were from the tribe of Issachar. In 1 Chronicles 12:32 the Bibles says, “And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment” (KJV). These men were wise and that is why they were able to help other people in Israel.
The prophetic word gives us understanding so that we can know what to do in stations of life. When we know what to do, we can help other people too. God wants us to be like the children of Issachar who understood the times and ended up helping others.
Are you ready and willing to help other people? Get wisdom.
