When you are a child of God, God’s enemies are your enemies. It is clear that the enemy can not attack God directly, but he can do it indirectly. However, God still responds to attacks directed to those he loves as if he was directly being attacked himself. As a Father, God loves his children and he will always do the best for them.
Are you a child of God? If you are, then know for sure that God loves you. Let us take an example of King David. King David loved his children, but iniquity negatively affected his family after just one immoral act. This is still a big issues in families today, but in Christ we can take a better stand against it. In Christ there is forgiveness and it leads to change of life.
King David had enemies who desired to hurt him so bad, but since he was a King, they could do nothing. In order to try to get to you, your enemy will try to attack you in ways you might not expect. For some of you, those who want to hurt you do not stand a chance if they confronted you directly, as such they have tried in subtle ways to instigate enmity between you and your loved ones. They have whispered words that cause your relationship with loved ones to go sour. For King David, it was his son Absalom. Ahithophel whispered into Absalom’s ear that is why he turned against his father David.
If you have an Absalom in your life you need Jesus Christ to help you. He is the truth and everything else apart from the truth is foolishness. What did David do? David asked God in prayer to turn the advice Absalom received into foolishness. In 2 Samuel 15:31 the Bible says, “And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O Lord, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness” (KJV). David prayed so that Ahithophel’s advice to Absalom could turn into foolishness. When you encounter an Ahithophel in life, pray like David.
This is not just about children, it is also about a husband or wife. Who is whispering in your husband’s ear? Who is whispering in your wife’s ear? If that advice he or she is receiving is not from God then pray like David. Let God turn your enemy’s advice into foolishness. A lot of people today are going through struggles because of the advice they received from an “Ahithophel” since such advice has really turned into foolishness.
Are you ready to begin praying like David for people you love and care about?
