After winning major battles in life there is a tendency for any people to think they did it by themself. When we win any battle we have to remember the one who has really won it. It is God who wins our battles. This is the reason why we must always give him the glory.
One of the ways to glorify God is by testifying about the great things he has done. A testimony has the ability to speak for God and clearly reveal him as the one who has fought and won the battle of life. If God has done anything significant in your life, then you need to testify. The battles in your life are fought by God therefore give him the glory.
When the nation of Israel was finally in the promised land, it had to remember to glorify God. Now, just like us, King David was tempted in the same area. What happened? Well, after winning a good number of battles, King David decided to conduct a census. That was not what God wanted to do. David faced the consequence for the wrong decision. In 2 Samuel 24:10 the Bible says, “And David’s heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto the Lord, I have sinned greatly in that I have done: and now, I beseech thee, O Lord, take away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly” (KJV).
Now, why did David decide to conduct a census in Israel? Well, maybe at the end of the census he could have concluded that Israel’s great numbers was the main reason for the victories. After the census, David knew what he had done deep down in his heart. He knew he had done something wrong. The Bible says that his heart smote him. This means he was convicted and knew that repentance was the only way to recovery.
What does all this mean? It means that God will not share his glory with anyone. We have to give all the glory to God and not think we can achieve anything in our own power. When it comes to life issues including areas about gaining wealth, in Deuteronomy 8:18 the Bible says, “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth…” (KJV). If God gives special abilities to people to achieve success it means we must give him all the glory. Surely in all our giving, we must give him the glory.
Are you giving all the glory to God?
