Dreams – Part 1

God wants his people to dream dreams. Actually the Spirit of God gives people the ability to prophesy, dream dreams and see visions. In Joel 2:28 the Bible says, “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:”‭‭(KJV‬‬). When touched by the Spirit of God, people of all ages can manifest spiritual abilities to fulfill God’s end time plan.

One thing to understand is that dreams from God prepare his people for future stations of life. A dream from God can prepare you for the next day, week, month or year. This is like what happened a long time a go when a prophetic word came to Abraham saying that his children would be in bondage for four hundred and thirty years. In the fourth generation, God began to reveal the next step of his plan by dreams.

Now, it was during those very days when Jacob’s son Joseph learnt how important dreams can be. One night he dreamt about the sun, moon and eleven stars bowing down to him. Well, at that time dreams were new to Joseph therefore he had to ask his father for the interpretation. In Genesis 37:9-11 the Bible says, “And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me. And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth? And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying” (KJV‬‬). Due to all that experience with his brothers and father Jacob, Joseph learnt how to decode dreams.

The truth of the matter is that a dream from God can offer far beyond what a college degree can. A dream can prepare you for the future station of life at a different level. For Joseph, dreams from above were a key to his future. It is interesting that dreams are still valid today. When Joseph was wrongfully imprisoned in Egypt he had already learnt the importance of dreams. In prison he interpreted dreams for his fellow prisoners. Not only that, but he ended up impacting nations by interpreting Phoraoh’s dream.

When Joseph interpreted Pharaoh’s dream, his life changed. In Genesis 41:41-43 the Bible says, “And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck; And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt” (KJV). Dreams have a way of changing lives and impacting nations in a positive way and Joseph’s life proves it.

It is God’s will to dream dreams.
