God has used dreams when dealing with issues involving those who belong to him. One day a King by the name of Abimelech took Abraham’s wife Sarah by force. Since Abraham indicated that Sarah was his sister instead of wife Abimelech went ahead and took her away. In that situation Abraham could do nothing, but God came through for him by means of a dream.
In Genesis 20:2-3 the Bible says, “And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife” (KJV). God used a dream to deal with that issue and Abimelech gave Sarah back to Abraham.
In the past God has used dreams to rebuke people with the intention of hurting those he loves. God loves you as his child and he will always place a hedge of protection around you. People like Jacob (Israel) was one day protected by means of a dream. When his uncle Laban pursued him, God had to come through by means of a dream. In Genesis 31:24 the Bible says, “And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad” (KJV). Jacob ended up not being hurt by his uncle Laban because God came through for him by means of a dream.
When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the wise men met King Herod before they finally found the new born King Jesus. In their discussion Herod sounded like he wanted to locate the baby Jesus so that he would also go and worship him, when in actual fact his intention was to kill the new born King. Since he was hoping to hurt God’s own precious Son, the wise men were warned by means of a dream. In Matthew 2:12 the Bible says, “And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way” (KJV). God warned the wise men by means of a dream.
In these last days, God is still using dreams.
