When God delivered Israel from slavery in Egypt, he wanted that whole nation not to be involved in pagan practices. The nation of Israel was supposed to avoid pagan practices because such practices create an open door for demonic influences.
Any child of God should not be involved in pagan practices such as walking across burning coals of fire. Walking across coals of fire is sin and people who practice this think it takes away fear when it really does not. God is holy. When we seek and feel after him, we are bound to find him. In Act 17: 30 the Bible declares, “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent” (KJV). Repentance is key in turning things around, no matter what one has gotten into in the past.
The Spirit that God has placed in the heart of every child of God is the Spirit of love and that is what takes away fear. In 1 John 4:18 the Bible says, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love” (KJV). Fear is a spirit and perfect love casts it out.
In Deuteronomy 18:9-10 the Bible says, “When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch” (KJV). God did not want Israel to give a foothold to demonic influences. Israel was supposed to be set apart for God just like any child of God should be set apart for God.
