One day when Jesus told his disciples to go to the other side of the lake, they willingly took off in obedience without worrying about any possible dangers. As they started off there were no signs of danger, but a short while later they were facing the unexpected dangers of a storm.
This situation was like what we experience today as we face challenges without much warning. Jesus is not here physically, but he is alive and really still a present help in times we face life challenges. In order to deal with difficult situations we need to call on him. The disciples called upon Jesus as they faced a storm on that boat. That is the best way to go about it.
When the disciples called upon Jesus on that boat, all he had to do was to speak to the storm. Jesus commanded the storm to stop and it immediately stopped. Now, when the storm stopped, he turned to his disciples and rebuked them for not having faith. Jesus took control over that storm and in your life he can still take control over destructive forces of evil.
Now after rebuking the storm, Jesus turned to the disciples and rebuked them too. In Luke 8:25, the Bible says, “And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him” (KJV). The disciples where probably so much caught up in the event of the storm that they could not hear what Jesus was telling them. Jesus was telling them to have faith so that they can be able to deal with any issue that would present itself with the destructive characteristic or force as that of a storm.
Are you also facing storms that make you feel like you are alone? You are not alone when you have faith. God is with you, just call on Jesus. The power of faith will calm any storm and will always offer hope for the next step in your life so as to soars above the storms of life.
